Pretty crazy: I’m walking through Croatia lugging not one, not two, but three cameras (OK not that crazy for me). We have the Leica SL2 and Leica Q2, the gold standard of ‘look at me, I’m expensive’ in the camera world. And then there’s the Fujifilm XQ2, the little dude hanging out with the toffs, probably wondering how and why it got in this club (certainly not to get the girls). I mostly used it to warm up for the ‘rich boy’ Leicas, just to remind myself how far I’ve gone overboard with camera spending.
Sometimes, the modest XQ2 with its ‘humble’ specs and (amazing) toy camera filter had the audacity to outshine the Leica elite. It’s like the moment when your £2 pint at Weatherspoons tastes better than the £8 one had in BrewDog, leaving you scratching your head (actually that never happens).
So, here we go, 49 ‘snapshots’ from Croatia, each from the XQ2, my ‘composition aid’ turned frugal hero in a gig of high rollers.
